The Shalom Choir

Asa Stern

This lively and fun-loving group of singers is made up of teachers, engineers, librarians, accountants, students and a variety of other experts who have in common their love of God and of singing. The choir rehearses weekly on Wednesday evenings (7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. in the Choir Room) and leads the sung portions of worship on most Sunday mornings, September through May. The Shalom Choir also provides music for additional festival services: Christmas Eve and Maundy Thursday, to name a few. Often, they unite with the ECA Adult Choir as the Joint Venture Choir, for special concerts and worship experiences.

The Shalom Choir is open to any interested adult or High School student who enjoys singing. We provide assistance in reading music and developing singing technique. Interested persons may contact director Asa Stern (music@jointventurechurches.org) or phone the church at (408) 268-0243.

The Congregational Church of Almaden's Folk Choir provides music for one morning worship service each month, usually the second Sunday. Our group ranges between 12 and 16 players. We have a bass, a trombone, a saxophone, a clarinet, a trumpet, a violin, two flutes, two recorders, two keyboards, a number of guitars, a tambourine and a zither. Our interesting and varied sound reflects the joy we have in playing. We are often called upon to play at special church events throughout the year and at various retirement and rest homes in the Santa Clara Valley. Anyone who plays an instrument is welcome to join us. We schedule two practices in the weeks prior to our playing at the Sunday service. Please contact the church office at (408) 268-0243.

The Joint Venture Churches Handell Choir, anyone can join, high school age and up. Ringers need a good sense of timing but are not required to be able to read music. We provide assistance in reading music and developing ringing technique. Rehearsals are currently held on Wednesday afternoons from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. More players are always welcome. The JV Ringers play during worship on an average of once every 6 weeks.
