The Congregational Church of Almaden Valley, UCC also know as the Almaden Valley United Church of Christ is a friendly caring church. We see our vision as a caring for the wholeness of the earth and all the people of God; a welcoming all who seek to follow the way of Jesus Christ; and an affirming the worth of each individual and the ministry of each person. We are seekers who ask God to bind us together in exciting, meaningful worship and warm simple fellowship; to show us the emerging truth for our life together in the midst of changing times; and to build us up as a church of Jesus Christ organized to fulfill our mission for today and to guide us on our journey. CCAVUCC history We the members of The Congregational Church of Almaden Valley seek a deeper understanding of God’s grace as it moves through the life of our church. We are called by Christ and empowered by God to love all people and affirm the sacred worth and dignity of each individual. We invite into the full life and ministry of our church all people, recognizing no boundaries of age, race, education, ethnic origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, economic circumstance, or family structure. We embrace our diversity of thought and scriptural understanding, and we respect and honor all who seek to be in covenant with us as we share in the joys and responsibilities of our church family. We are a community of believers who are sustained by a basic belief in God, the creator of all things, taught by the example of the life of Jesus Christ, the Savior, and nurtured by the leading of the holy spirit. We recognize the uniqueness of each person as a gift of God, and we uphold the worth and dignity of all individuals. We welcome people from many backgrounds into our church community. We value our (sense of) community as friends and care for each other on a daily basis and in times of joy, sadness, and crisis. We value these connections to each other and to God. We value the way the two interact in special ways. We value our worship setting in-the-round because it embodies for us the centrality of God and our connections to each other as we celebrate our joy and thankfulness. We are a community that focuses on the importance of families and fellowship. We believe strongly in the importance of providing a loving, caring environment where children can grow and develop. We are a community of believers who place a high value on service to others, with a particular emphasis on compassion for all people. We are a group of people who search for meaning and direction for contemporary living. |
